UCCD Supports Scouting Programs!

UCCD currently supports the Environmental Science and Water and Soil Conservation Badges.  If your group needs help completing these badges, contact us anytime!  We are reviewing other badge requirements and will also be willing to help with those that meet our District goals.

Does your group need to complete an Eagle Scout Project related to natural resources or environmental education?  Do you have an idea, but need some help getting started?  We would love to help!  Stop in or call anytime with your ideas!

Cub Scouts

At the Treasures on the Blacks Fork Day Camp in July 2007, UCCD helped the Scouts learn about respect for our environment, responsibility and resourcefulness by learning how to conserve our natural resources.  In addition, we helped the Scouts build their own underwater scopes for viewing aquatic life.

Eagle Scouts

May 2007, UCCD worked with the Boy Scouts on a microinvertibrate pond study.  We assisted the Scouts with making their own water scopes, searched for microinvertibrates and examined our findings.  We discussed the food change and pollutants.

UCCD worked with Eagle Scout Weston Maxfield, to landscape the Bridger Valley Water Treatment Plant.  He choose the low maintenance shrub Woods Rose and planted the seedlings using weed barrier and rocks.  Above is a picture of how the seedlings have grown thus far.  Great job, Weston!  In 2005, an Eagle Scout Group helped us to replant a living snow fence in Urie.  Pictured below is the hard working group!

In both March and October of 2006, UCCD worked with two groups of Boy Scouts to help them earn their Environmental Science Badges.  Together we learned how difficult it is to clean up an oil spill , how to observe biological activity in study plots, how worms react to light and dark (pictured below), made ecosystems (pictured above), terrariums and more!
